Congress has passed legislation to reopen the federal government, ending a record-setting shutdown that cut off food stamp funding and snarled air traffic.

Republicans used their majority in the House of Representatives to push through a deal that will restore the flow of government funds until Jan. 30 and reverse federal layoffs during the shutdown, which on Wednesday reached its 43 rd day. President Donald Trump is expected to quickly sign the measure into law Wednesday night, after a narrow vote in the House.
