TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) - Marana residents could see higher water bills starting in February if the town council approves proposed rate increases during its Jan. 6 meeting.

The town’s water department is proposing a 10.5% annual increase for water rates and a 2.5% annual increase for water reclamation rates, with the increases continuing each year from 2026 to 2030.

“With rising costs, with inflation, and rising maintenance costs, cost of pipes, cost of services, and the need for the expansion and growing of Marana, that means all of our facilities are growing too,” said Heidi Lasham, the Town of Marana water director.

The last rate study was conducted in 2019. Lasham said current rates will not cover the town’s projected expenses over the next five years.
