HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - Deer collisions are increasing across Nebraska as hunting season coincides with changing daylight hours, prompting safety warnings from wildlife officials and insurance agents.
Scott Marrow, a Hastings resident, recently experienced a deer collision firsthand.
“I hit it straight on,” Marrow said. “There was no time to swerve.”
Marrow’s experience reflects a broader trend affecting Nebraska drivers. Roberta Patterson, another Hastings resident, said she narrowly avoided a collision recently.
“I saw a couple of them jump out while I was driving,” Patterson said. “Luckily I saw them, so I didn’t hit them.”
