If only somebody along the way had kept first-degree murder suspect Amir Wiam Mohammad Abuhmaid locked up on his previous times in handcuffs.

If that was taken more seriously then, perhaps 46-year-old Abdul Aleem Farooqi, who was shot to death in his own Kleinberg home Aug. 31, would still be alive to raise his family.

We will never know.

When announcing the arrest of Abuhmaid for first-degree murder in the callous home invasion and slaying, York Regional Police Chief Jim MacSween said this accused had previously been released on “four different” occasions.
