NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - Nashville SC’s backline mainstay and team captain Walker Zimmerman is reportedly leaving the club.
The Athletic’s Tom Bogert first reported the news, saying Zimmerman will depart Nashville SC this winter when his contract expires and enter free agency.
Zimmerman, a center back, was a consistent member of the United States senior men’s national team, and was just as reliable for Nashville.
He played in 172 matches across all competitions and scored 16 goals over his six seasons with the Boys in Gold.
Zimmerman departs Nashville as a four-time MLS All-Star, five-time Best XI selection and two-time Defender of the Year.
The 32-year-old defender was an original acquisition when Nashville SC became an MLS franchise and began play in 2020.
