Two mystery acts are set to take over Tiger Stadium next spring, and East Baton Rouge officials have agreed to return a slice of sales tax revenue from the shows to the performers.
After a recommendation by Visit Baton Rouge, the East Baton Rouge Metro Council approved the tax rebate for the two acts Wednesday night. The artists remain unknown.
The amount of tax given back will be the city-parish's 2% allotment of sales tax on event-related sales — around $1 million total for the two events.
Visit Baton Rouge President and CEO Jill Kidder said the tax rebates are crucial to turning Baton Rouge into a place that draws major acts.
