MOAB — Crews have rescued a BASE jumper in Moab, police announced Wednesday evening.
A post on the Grand County Sheriff's Department's Facebook page earlier in the afternoon asked people to avoid the area as crews were working to rescue the BASE jumper in the Kane Creek area.
"A large-scale search-and-rescue operation is currently underway in the Kane Creek area due to a BASE jumper incident," the post reads. A photo shared by the department shows what appears to be someone hanging from a cliff in rocky terrain. Photos later showed what appeared to be crews trying to hoist the person off the mountain.
Later Wednesday evening, the sheriff's office announced the person had been rescued.
