A new community event is bringing fresh energy to Sundays in Santa Maria —the Santa Maria Swap Meet now offers a lively mix of shopping, food and family entertainment in an outdoor setting.
The swap meet is held every Sunday at the South Campus of Allan Hancock College, 1300 S. College Ave., from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.
With rows of booths featuring everything from produce and clothes to collectibles and home goods — there are bounce houses, and fresh churros — the swap meet started its run in early September. It is independently organized by a local team led by Ed Carcarey and Sophia Lariz, with two on-site managers helping oversee weekly operations.
Carcarey emphasized that the new swap meet is separate from the one at the Fairpark.
