And the "Golden Bachelor" final rose goes to...

Former NFL linebacker Mel Owens made the life-altering decision between two senior contestants in the "Golden Bachelor" Season 2 finale that aired Wednesday, Nov. 12.

Wearing a blue suit paired with white Hoka sneakers on an Antigua beach, Owens, 66, presented his final, golden rose to Peg Munson, 62, a retired firefighter and bomb tech from Las Vegas, Nevada. But first, there was a commitment ring.

"I trusted you, you trusted me. You told me you had confidence in me that I'd make the right choice. And here you are," said Owens, presenting a Neil Lane diamond ring to Munson and placing it on her finger. "I have a ring, and this represents a commitment to love. To give us time together to figure out what our future holds."

"I've got the perfect gal, right here," Owens added.

Who got the final rose in 'Golden Bachelor' finale?

Then he offered the golden rose to Munson, who was wearing a golden gown.

"And one more thing, Peg, will you accept this final rose?" the divorced sports lawyer, father of two, said.

"Of course I will," said Munson, a divorced, single mom.

The romantic act brought a close to the second season of the senior reality dating competition, which started in controversy with Owen's pre-season podcast vow that he'd be "cutting" any contestant over 60. Owens apologized amid the backlash, and 23 women — only one under 60 — entered the Bachelor Mansion for the premiere episode on Sept. 24.

The final decision came down to two: between Munson and Cindy Cullers, 60, a retired biomedical engineer from Austin, Texas.

"I have to choose between two incredible women," Owens said during the Nov. 5 Fantasy Suites pentultimate episode in Antigua. "It's an impossible choice."

Cindy Cullers walks away from Mel Owens during the 'Golden Bachelor' finale

The "Golden Bachelor" finale started with the continuation of a candlelight meal on a dock between Cullers and Owens during Fantasy Suites. "I am torn between you and Peg," Owens told Cullers, adding that he was not willing to propose right away. "It has to develop over time."

But it was Cullers who walked away from the date and the relationship before even going into the Fantasy Suite.

"I want my guy to feel like he's been struck by lightning and can't live without me," Cullers said, telling Owens. "I'm sorry, it's not what I want. Are you OK if I leave now?"

"It hurts really bad," Cullers said tearfully to the camera afterwards.

Speaking in front of the "Golden Bachelor" finale live studio audience, Cullers said she would have been willing to relocate to Orange County, Calif., to be with Owens.

"I, 100 percent, would have been in it until the end of time," she said.

But she had no regrets about walking away. "I don't think I need to convince a man to love me," Cullers said to audience applause. "His analogy was 'finish the game.' I was in the wrong stadium."

Are Mel Owens and Peg Munson still together? Are they engaged?

Owens and Munson appeared in the studio, very much still together after Antigua. Although Owens gave Munson a ring during the finale, the two are not engaged − but they are in love.

"The nice thing about being in your 60s, going through life, is you get to write your own love story," said Munson. "We're on the same page and continue to grow our love and spend time with our families."
