Srinagar- Kashmir continued to reel under intense cold conditions as night temperatures dipped further below the freezing point across most parts of the valley, Meteorological Department officials said on Thursday. Srinagar recorded the coldest night of the season at minus 2.1 degrees Celsius, more than three degrees below the normal for this time of the year.
Officials said that, except for south Kashmir’s Kokernag, all weather stations in the valley reported sub-zero temperatures. Kokernag was the only station above the freezing mark, recording a minimum of 1.2°C.
Pahalgam recorded a low of –3.8°C, making it one of the coldest places in the region. In north Kashmir’s Kupwara, the mercury settled at –2.2°C, while the ski resort of Gulmarg recorded –0.5°C, MeT officials said.
