Rix's Creek coal miners have reached a deal with the mine's operator, Bloomfield, ending a months-long and bitter negotiation over working conditions.

The miners declared victory on Thursday, reportedly securing a 17 per cent increase in pay over the life of the new deal and improvements to provisions for injured workers.

The negotiations had been marked by numerous breakdowns and the longest Hunter Valley strike action in 25 years.

Bloomfield confirmed that it and the union had reached a settlement, though did not disclose details, on Thursday, November 13.

The company has been approached for comment.
