The Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) conducted searches at two locations—one in Mumbra, Thane, and another in Pune—in connection with the arrest of software engineer Zubair Hangargekar, who is accused of having links with Al-Qaeda and other banned terrorist organisations.

Officials clarified that the searches were not related to the recent Delhi blast that claimed 12 lives. However, as part of standard protocol, investigators are examining whether there could be any Maharashtra connection to the national capital incident.

According to ATS sources, Hangargekar (37), arrested from Pune on October 27, had allegedly attended a meeting at a teacher’s house in Mumbra. The teacher has not been named as an accused or a witness in the case.
