Local Tejano artists are hosting a special event this weekend to support struggling families and encourage the community to join them.

The Tejanos Unidos Thanksgiving Food Drive Concert will take place from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Nov. 16 at Jaime’s Place. Admission is a food donation.

“When I think of Jaime’s Place, I [automatically] think community,” Jenny B said.

Jenny B and Mousie Cervantes are among the local Tejano artists organizing the event.

“They can give any amount they want, but we’re really asking people to bring turkeys if they can and canned goods,” Cervantes said.

The Thanksgiving food drive concert is designed to help those who have fallen on hard times. Jenny B and Cervantes said it’s also an opportunity for Tejano artists to give back to a community that’s consistently
