HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - “Dancing in the Diaspora” opens Friday at the University of Hawaii at Manoa’s Kennedy Theatre, celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Center for Philippine Studies (CPS) through a collaboration with the Department of Theatre and Dance.
The dance production is directed by Dr. J. Lorenzo Perillo, an associate professor at the Dept. of Theatre and Dance and co-director for CPS.
Perillo joined HNN’s Sunrise with international guest artist Mycs Villoso and student dancers Lorelei Harrell, Anjanae Hassell, Seleena Drummondo, and Lahikiola Kalihiwa.
The show features a cast of over 20 dance and music artists from Hawaii, the U.S. mainland, and Canada. More than 60 artists were involved in the production, weaving hip-hop, contemporary movement, traditional kulintang
