The federal Liberal party is vowing to ditch Australia's commitment to net zero carbon emissions by 2050, and all other interim climate targets, if it wins the next election.

But state branches aren't all on the same page.

Here's how they compare:

* The Queensland Liberal-National government is still committed to net-zero emissions by 2050 under Premier David Crisafulli, but does have plans to extend the life of the state's coal-fired power stations, which could put some interim climate targets at risk

* The NSW Liberals, who are in opposition, have net zero by 2050 as part of their policy. But the state Nationals are backing the federal Nationals, who want to abandon the climate target. This has stoked some leadership speculation within the coalition in NSW
