AMRAVATI: A joyous wedding celebration turned tragic when the groom, Sujal Samudre, was stabbed on stage during his ceremony in Amravati on Tuesday night. The incident occurred at Sahil Lawn around 9:30 PM, causing panic among guests. Sujal, aged 22, was attacked by Raghav alias Ragho Jitendra Bakshi, who reportedly stabbed him multiple times in the thigh and knee with a sharp knife.
The shocking attack was captured on both CCTV and a drone camera, which followed the assailant as he fled the scene on a motorcycle. Eyewitnesses described the chaos that ensued, with Sujal's mother and bride fainting from shock. He was quickly taken to RIMS Hospital, where doctors reported that his injuries were serious but his condition was stable.
According to police, the attack may have stemmed from a dispute related to a DJ payment or an argument that occurred earlier during the celebrations. Ramji Samudre, Sujal's father, stated, "We had no enmity with anyone. We don’t understand why they attacked. The police should arrest the accused as soon as possible."
In a twist, Raghav's mother filed a counter complaint, alleging that Sujal's friends vandalized their home and set their motorcycle on fire following the attack. DCP Ganesh Shinde confirmed that both families have lodged complaints, and police are investigating the matter. The search for Raghav is ongoing, with authorities working to apprehend him soon.
The incident has raised concerns about safety at public events, and the viral footage from the drone has drawn significant attention online, highlighting the dramatic nature of the attack. Police have registered multiple charges against the accused under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, and efforts are underway to resolve the escalating tensions between the two families.
