A security guard pointed a gun at a truck driver while they were stuck in traffic in Fairfield on Tuesday, police said.

The incident happened shortly after 6 a.m. while officers were directing traffic on Fairfield Road due to a crash that had shut down Route 46 West for several hours overnight, according to a statement from the Fairfield Police Department.

Officer Carmelo Caramanna was approached by a truck driver who told him that a man wearing a security-type uniform had pointed a handgun at him several minutes earlier, the department said. The driver provided the officer with a vehicle description and license plate

A short time later, the suspect’s vehicle was spotted exiting the Dey Overpass onto Route 46 West and an officer stopped the driver, identified Wednesday as Averie Goden,
