A nuclear reactor and fuel design engineering company focused on clean energy generation received site plan approval on Wednesday for a proposed 89,000-square-foot facility in the Ballenger Creek area.
The X-energy company will adapt an existing warehouse and office building structure at 7201 McKinney Circle near Buckeystown Pike into a research laboratory for testing non-nuclear materials and components of small modular reactors, Kate Roche, the company's vice president, told the Frederick County Planning Commission on Wednesday.
