An investigation is underway, officials said, after a woman was hurt by broken glass when her car was shot multiple times as she drove through Philadelphia's Kingsessing neighborhood early Thursday.

According to Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector Scott Small, officers responded to the 1300 block of South Paxton Street at about 1 a.m. on Thursday after receiving a 9-1-1 call about a 20-year-old woman had injuries to her face following a shooting.

The woman was taken to a nearby hospital where, officials said, she was placed in stable condition.
