Reacting to reports that members of Donald Trump’s administration set everything aside on Wednesday to lobby the renegade Republican House members who have signed on to release the notorious Jeffrey Epstein files, MSNBC’s Jonathan Lemire claimed the White House is in a frenzy based on calls he has received.
On the same day that the House reconvened and Rep. Adelita Grijalva (D-AZ) was sworn in and signed onto a discharge petition aimed at getting the files released, the White House reportedly made overtures to Reps. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) and Nancy Mace (R-SC) to change their minds about aligning with Democrats.
After “Morning Joe” co-host Joe Scarborough pointed out that Attorney General Pam Bondi and FBI Director Kash Patel were involved in the cover-up efforts, Lemire claimed he was inundated with fearful comments about the White House’s flurry of activity.
“This is the bombshell of the story that simply will not go away as hard as Donald Trump is trying to make the Jeffrey Epstein matter go away — it simply won't,” Lemire reported.
“And it was sort of a panicked behavior,” he remarked. “That's how people put it to me yesterday in the White House, when we started seeing those emails, when Trump himself, as well as some of his top DOJ officials, pushed Republicans to remove their names from the discharge petition, unsuccessfully — it still was signed. It still hit the number of votes needed.”
”There's a sense here that this is the story,” he added. “The epic story has gained really momentum, and it's not quite clear where it goes next, but it's certainly taking a real toll on this presidency.”
