Intellectuals and tourism enthusiasts in the Konark region have voiced serious concerns over the safety of tourists and the potential rise in anti-social activities at the world-renowned Konark Sun Temple and the historic Chandrabhaga Beach, following the prolonged malfunction of 52 newly installed CCTV cameras.
The cameras, installed by the Konark Notified Area Council (NAC) through a local agency at a cost of approximately Rs 40 lakh, were intended to enhance security at sensitive locations.
