Chhean (chay-on) is a single mom doing everything she can to raise her two children. Her daughter Lisa is 11, and son Dalis is just 3. She struggles to make a few items of clothing and buy food for them to eat.
“I could not grow my sewing business,” Chhean said. “My income is not steady. We spent about a dollar a day on food. There was barely enough left for other expenses.
In addition to sewing, Chhaen is forced to work other jobs, like manual labor on a farm labor during planting and harvest season.
“I wanted to help my mom, but sometimes she hides when she’s crying. I did not know what to do so I just hug her,” said daughter Lisa with tear-filled eyes.
One day, a pastor told Chhean about an after-school program supported by Operation Blessing and its children’s program, Orphans’
