Middlesbrough are set for a multi-million-pound injection after Rob Edwards left the club to join Wolverhampton Wanderers.
The Molineux club finally confirmed the appointment of Edwards on Wednesday after days of speculation. Edwards took charge of Middlesbrough only last summer and has swapped the Championship promotion race for a battle to avoid relegation from the Premier League .
Edwards will be hoping he can change Wolves’ fortunes around after nine defeats from their opening 11 matches has left them sitting eight points adrift of safety. However, his departure from the Riverside will pocket Boro around £4million in compensation.
