A 50-year-old woman has been charged with murdering her partner’s elderly mother last month in the home they shared in Sydney’s north-west.

The body of Irene Selmes, 84, was found inside the bedroom of her Melonba house on October 4 by a family member, who then called Triple Zero. Selmes lived at the home with her son and his partner.

An autopsy allegedly revealed that Selmes had suffered “significant injuries” before her death, including to the upper body, NSW Police said in a statement.
