Thursday marks three years since four Idaho students were stabbed to death in their off-campus rental home in Moscow, Idaho, a grisly crime that gained national attention.

Bryan Kohlberger, the murder suspect in the case, is now serving life in prison after confessing to the murders and taking a plea deal to avoid the death penalty in July 2025.

What happened in the Idaho murders case?

The backstory:

On Nov. 13, 2022, University of Idaho students Ethan Chapin, Xana Kernodle, Kaylee Goncalves and Madison Mogen were stabbed to death on the second and third floors inside their rental home near the campus.

Surviving roommates called friends to the house because they believed one of the second-floor victims had passed out.
