SHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA) - A man from Bossier City has been sentenced for trying to kill a lifelong friend last year.
The Caddo Parish District Attorney’s Office announced Wednesday, Nov. 12 that Derrick Deone Morris, 44, must serve 40 years in prison for his crime. Morris was found guilty back on Sept. 23. He was sentenced as a second felony habitual offender, the DA’s office says.
Morris’ sentence is to be served without the benefit of probation, parole, or suspension of sentence.
The DA’s office says the jury heard from the officer who initially responded to the shooting, the detective who investigated the case, and the victim himself.
