INDIANAPOLIS - State Senator Jean Leising (R-Oldenburg) says she "will vote no" on early congressional map changes.
He decision comes after hearing from hundreds of constituents in the past two months that are opposed to early congressional redistricting.
Governor Mike Braun has called for a special legislative session for the General Assembly to convene this December to consider altering the boundaries of Indiana’s congressional districts and to consider resolving an important issue regarding federal and state tax compliance that must be addressed.
In Indiana, Republicans currently hold a 7–2 advantage in the U.S. House delegation, but proponents are aiming for a 9-0 version.
The boundaries are typically adjusted every 10 years, using new census data.
