New information suggests that the brother of one of the arrested doctors may have been in contact with radical groups, deepening concerns over how educated youth were drawn into extremist ideas.
Police officials say the case has revealed signs of self radicalisation among some of the suspects, including Dr Shaheen Shahid and her brother Parvez Sayeed. Investigators believe both drifted into extremist thinking over time and maintained limited interaction with family members as their views changed.
