Contender , the biggest great white shark ever recorded in the Atlantic Ocean , has reportedly resurfaced off the coast of Atlantic City, New Jersey, according to the large marine animal research nonprofit organization OCEARCH via FOX Weather .
“Each ping adds another clue to the puzzle of white shark migration in the Western North Atlantic—and our team is tracking every move,” OCEARCH said.
Contender is suspected to be moving back down to Florida amid the winter season, having previously been pinged in several other locations along with the East Coast. The estimated 14-foot, 1,653-pound shark was initially tagged near the Florida/Georgia coastline in January and later the Outer Banks in North Carolina from April to mid-June.
