The North Bay Regional Health Centre has issued layoff notices to 13 Registered Nurses, four Registered Practical Nurses and Personal Support Workers, housekeepers and patient food and service workers, according to hospital unions.
The numbers were revealed during a rally outside the North Bay Regional Health Centre on Wednesday.

Mike Turgeon, president of Local 139 of the Canadian Union of Public Employees, told local media that the clerical staff impacted by these cuts were working in the hospital’s emergency unit.
He said only a few workers can be redeployed to vacant positions.
