YAKIMA, Wash. – The Yakima Woman’s Century Club celebrated its 95th anniversary earlier this year.

The club continues to contribute through charity work, garden classes and basket weaving sessions and much more.

Originally, the club began as two separate entities: the Women’s Club and the Century Club. Both clubs were more than 20 years old by 1927, when they joined together.

The Century Club focused on promoting academic pursuits, while the Women’s Club catered to hobbyists like gardeners and home cooks.

Their merger resulted in a membership of more than 50 people, which later swelled into over 100 members.

The club purchased the historic Donald House, the first officially recognized historic building in Yakima.
