WATERVILLE -- A woman has died after being struck by a vehicle while attempting to cross the road in Waterville.

Waterville police Major Jason Longley says it happened at the intersection of Kennedy Memorial Drive and Brigham Street about 4:30 pm.

Longley says 60-year-old Michael Paiva of Norridgewock was driving a pickup traveling west on Kennedy Memorial Drive when it struck 74-year-old Kathleen Corridan of Waterville.

He says Langley was attempting to cross the roadway on foot wearing dark clothing.

She was transported to Maine Medical Center in Portland by LifeFlight but died from her injuries.

Paiva was not injured.

Longley says members of the Maine State Police are also involved in the investigation.

There are no pending charges.
