In a continued drive against drug trafficking, Police Post Tengpora recovered a heroin-like substance during a routine checking operation on Thursday.
The accused has been identified as Reyaz Ahmad Sheikh, son of Ghulam Mohammad Sheikh, resident of Kupwara. He was arrested on the spot following the recovery.
Accordingly, an FIR No. 88/2025 has been registered under Section 8/21 of the NDPS Act at Police Station Batamaloo, and further investigation has been initiated to trace the source and supply chain of the contraband.
Police have reaffirmed their commitment to eliminating the drug menace and have urged citizens to report any information related to drug peddling or abuse in their localities.
