U-M fungus smuggling scientist from China spared from more prison time

Junquing Jian admits she smuggled a toxic fungus into the country while working at the University of Michigan, and that she lied to the FBI about it.

But she maintains she meant no harm by her actions, court records show, and that she has already suffered plenty — so much that she should be spared any more time behind bars.
