Five Canadian writers have made the shortlist for the 2025 Atwood Gibson Writers' Trust Fiction Prize.
The annual award recognizes the best novel or short story collection by a Canadian author. Funded by the Balsillie Family Foundation, the winner will receive $70,000, up $10,000 from last year, while finalists now win $7,500, up from $5,000.
The 2025 nominees are Tim Bowling for , Robert McGill for , Otoniya J. Okot Bitek for , Maria Reva for and Aurora Stewart de Peña for .
This year's jury is composed of fiction writers Gary Barwin, Ali Bryan and Jasmine Sealy. They selected the finalists from 120 titles.
The shortlisted titles are available in accessible formats through the Centre of Equitable Library Access .
