For their historic defensive performances in Week 10 that helped their teams to victory, Seahawks' linebacker DeMarcus Lawrence and Texans' defensive end Danielle Hunter have been named Defensive Player of the Week for their respective conferences.
DeMarcus Lawrence earned the NFC Defensive Player of the Week performance by tallying four tackles, two fumble recoveries returned for touchdowns, a tackle for loss, and a half sack in Seattle's 44-22 victory over the Cardinals.
Lawrence managed to earn a spot in the record books as just the third player in NFL history to record two fumble return touchdowns in a game – only Jeremy Chinn and Fred Evans have also achieved that milestone. The twelfth-year veteran earned his second-career NFC Defensive Player of the Week award with the honor.
On the other side of the league, Hunter was named AFC Defensive Player of the Week with a massive effort in a 36-29 win over the Jaguars that saw him notch seven tackles, four tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks, and a forced fumble. That stat line makes Hunter one of just nine players since 2000 to register seven tackles, four tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks, and a forced fumble in a single game. The accolade is Hunter’s third Defensive Player of the Week award in his 11-year NFL career.
