One of my favorite TV shows of all time is “Stranger Things.” So much of this kitschy, ’80s throwback reminds me of my own childhood – the clothes, the mall, the music. It’s awesome. Another reason I love it is there’s not a cell phone, tablet or computer in sight. Save the occasional console TV, the show is essentially void of the blue-light rectangles we’re all addicted to.
What I wouldn’t give to plop my kids down into a screen-free world. I realize this is an impossible dream; the complete opposite of where they are headed when it comes to their relatable reliance and fondness for technology. I fully admit I’m addicted to my phone. I’d rather leave the house without shoes than my phone, it’s pathetic. I think most of us feel the same way and none of us feel very good about it.
