A 28-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a series of break-ins and sexual assaults in Oshawa, Ontario. Mohamed Basil Lafir, who has no fixed address, faces multiple charges, including break-and-enter, committing an indecent act, forcible confinement, and two counts of sexual assault.
The alleged incidents occurred on November 11, as reported by Durham Regional Police. Officers responded to calls about a man entering homes and exposing himself late Tuesday afternoon. According to police, Lafir first entered a residence where he exposed himself to the occupants. He fled the scene after being startled by a dog.
The suspect then moved to a second home on the same street. There, he sexually assaulted the homeowner when she confronted him. Following this incident, Lafir entered a third residence, where he sexually assaulted an older woman who was in bed. He escaped through a bedroom window after the assault.
Police arrived shortly after and apprehended Lafir without incident. Authorities are concerned that there may be additional victims. It is important to note that the allegations against Lafir have not yet been proven in court.
