Ruturaj Gaikwad scored an impressive 117 off 129 balls, leading India A to a comfortable four-wicket victory over South Africa A as they chased down 286 in the first unofficial ODI on Thursday.

Having been left out of India’s ODI and T20 squads, Gaikwad anchored the run chase with a solid performance. South Africa A had posted a competitive 285/9 despite losing half their side for 53 by the 12th over.

Left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh, aiming to secure his place in the ODI team, dismissed openers Rubin Hermann and Rivaldo Moonsamy to give India A an excellent start. Prasidh Krishna further troubled the opposition by removing South Africa A captain Marques Ackerman.

However, the lower order showed resilience for South Africa A, with Dian Forrester (77), Delano Potgie
