What to expect during the hearing

Today's oversight committee hearing will look a little different than past oversight hearings, and even different than past hearings conducted about the Washington Bridge.

The focus: The hearing will focus, broadly, on the emergency closure – and subsequent demolition – of the once heavily traveled westbound side of the Washington Bridge that spanned the Seekonk River along the Interstate 195 corridor.

Who's who: The hearing will primarily feature two people - RIDOT Director Peter Alviti and former U.S. Attorney Zachary Cunha.

Alviti has been the RIDOT director since 2015 and was a Raimondo-era appointment. Before that, he was the Cranston public works director, and was a program director for an arm of the Laborers' uni
