YANKTON, S.D. (KTIV) - A Walmart in Southeast South Dakota was temporarily evacuated after a possibly dangerous person was reported inside, a report authorities say ended up being unfounded.

Around 9 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 12, the Yankton Police Department says they got a report of a suicidal man allegedly hiding inside the Yankton Walmart, armed and threatening self-harm.

According to a press release from police, officers responded immediately and began coordinating with Walmart staff to safely evacuate shoppers while simultaneously searching the store and working to verify the accuracy of the information.
