Baltimore police executed raids Wednesday as part of an ongoing investigation into a series of mass overdoses in the city’s Penn North neighborhood, where authorities say a powerful animal sedative was found mixed with street drugs.
The enforcement actions come after months of overdoses that left dozens hospitalized, prompting what Mayor Brandon Scott calls a “dual response” from city government, one that focuses on both public health and law enforcement.
“Since this happened, I’ve said this was going to be a dual response for us as a city government,” Scott told WBAL NewsRadio’s C4 and Bryan Nehman on Thursday.
