(WFSB) - A retired state police K9, whose handler was killed in the line of duty, passed away peacefully, troopers announced.
State police said K9 Roso died on Wednesday surrounded by family. He had a recent medical diagnosis.
Roso’s handler was Trooper Aaron Pelletier. Pelletier was struck and killed by a driver on Interstate 84 in Southington in May 2024.
“K9 Roso proudly served alongside his handler, Trooper First Class Aaron Pelletier, and was a graduate of both the 223rd Patrol K-9 Class and the 225th Firearms Detection K9 Class,” state police said in a social media post. “K9 Roso also served on the State Police Tactical Unit where he contributed to numerous critical operations.”
Throughout his career, troopers said K9 Roso exemplified loyalty, bravery, and service.
