PORTLAND, Maine — Portland police are asking for the public’s help in solving the 1990 homicide of Scott Sampson, whose body was found on a Portland sidewalk 35 years ago.

On Nov. 13, 1990, at about 1:53 a.m., officers responded to a report of an unconscious man in front of the Pine Street Variety store at 64 Pine St., according to the Portland Police Department. When officers arrived, they found Sampson dead.

Investigators later determined that Sampson’s death was a homicide. Police have not released the cause of his death.
