CORVALLIS, Ore. - Authorities are investigating a fatal shooting that left one person dead this morning near a local park, according to the Corvallis Police Department.

CPD officials said that officers quickly responded just after 10 a.m. on Nov. 13 to a reported shooting in the area of Willamette Park. Police identified two involved individuals, one of whom is deceased, authorities said.

The Corvallis Major Crimes Team is leading the investigation. The second individual involved stayed at the scene and is being questioned by detectives, police officials said.

Police assure that there is no danger to the public but ask residents to avoid the area as the investigation continues. Further updates will be provided through press releases.
