After Akron officials offered developers a last chance to propose preservation of the historic Firestone Plant 1 — a process that included a pitch to transform the site and its landmark clock tower into a new police headquarters — the city says it will move forward with planned demolition.
The city rejected the proposal by Amerimar Realty of Philadelphia to turn the decommissioned factory at 1200 Firestone Parkway into a police station that would replace the aging Harold K. Stubbs Justice Center downtown.
