Earlier this month, I signed and approved Putnam County’s 2026 budget, continuing three straight years of tax relief for our residents and more than $10 million in total savings since I took office. It also fulfills a key promise I made during my State of the County Address: a new $1 million cut to the property tax levy (the total amount the county collects in property taxes), the largest cut in county history.

The $1 million levy reduction in the 2026 budget, complemented by nearly $1.5 million in additional cuts since 2023, doesn’t just help today’s taxpayers; it limits how much future legislatures and executives can raise property taxes without busting the tax cap.
