NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C. (WRDW/WAGT) - Aiken Regional Medical Center broke ground on a new free-standing emergency room that will provide 24-hour emergency care to North Augusta residents.

City and state leaders gathered off Martintown Road in front of the YMCA in North Augusta for the groundbreaking ceremony.

South Carolina SNAP benefits will flow again on Friday

After a long federal government shutdown that left SNAP funding in limbo, full benefits will be available starting Friday for some South Carolina families.

The new 12,000-square-foot facility will operate around the clock and include CT and X-ray machines. Officials said the facility is expected to open in November 2026.
