A Calgary man is facing child pornography and luring charges following an investigation by undercover police in Ontario.

The Guelph Police Service says in September, one of its officers was posing as a 13-year-old girl on an online chat with an adult male.

During that time, the man sent photos of himself and talked about wanting to meet the underage girl for sex.

The investigation determined the man was in Calgary, and the file was forwarded to the Alberta Law Enforcement Response Team’s (ALERT) Child Exploitation Unit.

The 44-year-old Calgary man was arrested Wednesday and is facing several charges, including making and distributing child sexual abuse and exploitation material (formerly known as child pornography) and luring a child under 16.
