A professional baker from St. Paul was killed in a crash early Wednesday morning.
The Minnesota State Patrol says Benjamin Michael Villano, 31, was killed just before 3 a.m. Wednesday when a Tesla being driven at a “high rate of speed” exited Dale Street from eastbound I-94 and crashed into Villano’s Toyota Rav 4 as it crossed the intersection.
The Pioneer Press reports that Villano worked as a professional baker for Rose Street Patisserie in St. Paul and Patisserie 46 in Minneapolis.
The driver of the Tesla, a 22-year-old Fridley man, and his 19-year-old female passenger, sustained injuries that aren't life-threatening and were taken to Regions Hospital.
The driver was still hospitalized as of Thursday afternoon.
